Hotel Taxes for the State of Hawaii

Hotel Taxes:

When you are quoted a rate for a hotel it almost never includes the taxes that for the State of Hawaii are 13.962%.
This percentage is the result of the addition of 2 separate taxes, the GE tax (general exercise tax applies to all retail commercial transactions in the State of Hawaii) and the"transient accommodation tax" that was created years ago to help pay for the Hawaii Convention Center.
