• The Marine Surf Hotel and condo was built in 1968, all it units are studios with full kitchens (including small ranges with ovens). The common areas are somewhat small especially the swimming pool and pool area but the lobby size is reasonably sized for the hotel star rating. On the ground floor this hotel houses a well known local Italian restaurant named "Mateo's" . This hotel was one of the original hotels that started with the "ownership pool" concept more than 20 years ago in which the hotel rents units from the original owners to run the operation, at one point it counted almost 200 units, the last Real Estate craze however changed the landscape of the business and they have reduced their inventory to a little over 30 units. This Hotel also manages and books rooms for the Seaside Hotel located next door, owned by United Airlines and used exclusively by their employees.

• All units have a full kitchen, this is not a "Waikiki Kitchenette" with a counter top hot-plate a tiny microwave and shoe-box size refrigerator with no freezer, this is a complete kitchen with a real stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator and freezer, of course the appliances will not be as big as your kitchen back home but they are a smaller version of yours.
• Great location, very central.
• Parking is cheeeeeeap, only $5 a day!! (this was last time we checked, you may want to check with the front desk 808-931-2452 just in case they change).

• The pool and pool areas are really small and non inviting, if you are coming with kids you may want to look for a hotel with a better pool.
• If you are planning to use the beach closest to your hotel, be warned that it is not very wide, you may want to consider going to Ala Moana Beach Park, close to the Ala Moana Shopping center or better yet, Kailua or Waimanalo beaches on the windward side of the island (no hotels are close to these locations).
